Please read the following, and understand it completely before applying for a library card online or in person.

Thank you for your interest in getting a Hayden Public Library card, you may apply online, or come in person at any time during normal operating hours to apply for one. Applications filled out online may take on average of one week to complete, you will receive an email when your card is ready for use.

Please have the following ready before applying for a library card.

  1. ​​​Email Address            (Used for conformation, and library updates only )
  2. Mailing Address         (The address at which you receive your mail, for example P.O. Box 5555 Hayden, CO  81639 )
  3. Telephone number     ( The best number to get in touch with you, just in the event something seems fishy )
  4. Full Name                   ( The full name that you prefer and everyone calls you, for example "Jerry Fields" )

Parents, please share with your child the importance of his/her library card and the responsibility it entails. A library card provides your child access to all library materials, including DVD's, VHS's , CD's, Audio Book's and Magazines.

Children under the age of 15 will need a parent, or legal guardian present when applying for a library card. You have to apply in person at the library, applications filled out online will be automatically held until the child and parent come into the library to complete the application process. We will notify you by your prefered contact method if an application you have filed has been held.

Library cards may be applied for in person at the front desk, or online. A patron number will be assigned to you at the time, or in an email conformation within one week, and can be used to access your account from home via this website. A local mailing address is needed. First time check-outis limited to two items; and after these items are returned,the limit for checking out is 20 items at a time. Any "temporary" visitors may obtain a card for a $20.00 refundable deposit. Steamboat Springs and Craig residents may obtain cards free of charge. Colorado Library Card holders are also welcome.Books, and books on CD or cassettes are checked out for a period of 2 weeks,with phone renewal available. Movies in VHS or DVD format are also checked out for two weeks.Fines are ten cents per day, with a maximum $2.00 fine for all late materials, and patrons are encouraged to use our outside bookdrop to return items when the library is closed.Past issues of magazines may be checkedout for two weeks.Interlibrary loans are available at no fee. Please ask at the front desk.Internet and e-mailing is permissible by signing a Internet Policy form and log-in sheet at the time of use. There is a one hour time limit for use.
