Week #4: Jesse

Hayden Public Library’s fourth Reader of the Week is 11 year old Jesse. His family includes his parents, Lisa and Ben, and a brother, Logan, who is 6 years old.  The family also has a dog named Scout, and fish Bubbles, Fins, and The Three Musketeers.

Gavin, Karsyn, and Jarrett are some of Jesse’s friends. He will start sixth grade this fall with art and science as his favorite subjects. Lime green and cyan blue are his favorite colors and spaghetti, pizza, and ice cream are some favorite foods. He likes to watch TV shows American Ninja Warrior and Top Gear; Indiana Jones and Star Wars are some of his favorite movies.

Baseball, basketball, bowling, and track are his favorite sports. He plays video games, ride bikes, and builds with Legos in his free time.  Jesse spends every Friday working with his grandpa-this is what Jesse called “special time”. The family is going to South Dakota next week and will camp and fish as much as they can through the summer. He likes to read the series The Sacketts by Louis L’Amour and books by Jack London. His advice to others is “keep reading!” Jesse was surprised when he found out he was the Reader of the Week.

Week #3: Daphne

Hayden Public Library’s Summer Reading Program announces the third Reader of the Week, seven year old Daphne, who said she was “excited” she had won.  Her parents are Alicia and Jake. Daphne’s little brother is Billy, 5.  Her friends are Jade, Harper and Uriah.  When she grows up, she would like to become a veterinarian—and has many animals to work with at home—dogs BooBoo, Buzz, Murray, cat Zoey, a bird, 6 chickens and a snail named Rexie.

Her favorite color is teal and her favorite food is ramen noodles. Her favorite movie is a series called “Harry Potter.” Her favorite books are the Magic Treehouse series by Mary Pope Osborne. In her free time she likes to play with her toys.  She is taking gymnastics classes, and her favorite subject in school is art.

The family will travel to North Dakota and enjoy Mt. Rushmore, a water park, and stay in teepees.  When asked what advice she would give to younger readers, Daphne said, “You should join the Bradley’s Book Buddies program at the Hayden Library.”  Her mom said, “Daphne is the girl with the books in the bed.”
